The Latest Guidance from Connecticut River Council
The current situation is very fluid and is subject to change based on the Governor’s executive orders as well as changes in the pandemic. If units can follow all of the state guidelines and the National Restart Scouting checklist they can run meetings and activities.
Please follow the guidelines from the Council’s Enterprise Risk Management Committee:
Please follow the guidelines from the Council’s Enterprise Risk Management Committee:
- Remember all aspects of youth protection.
- No participants can show evidence of any aspect of illness, nor have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 within the last two weeks.
- Carpooling guidelines – We still do not recommend carpooling, however here are guidelines to follow:click HERE!
- All unit leaders, please familiarize yourself with the current Covid-19 notification protocol in the event that someone from you unit tests positive or is potentially exposed to the virus. See updated notification protocol HERE!
- No shared food or drink, for example no buffet service or family style. If someone from the unit is cooking than that person needs to plate the food for each participant. We recommend individually packaged condiments and anything you can purchase individually packaged.
- Only one person per tent when camping unless the participants reside in the same household.
- Units must be prepared to, and thoroughly disinfect bathrooms between uses.
- Mask use is still recommended outdoors and required at all indoor activities. While the state has lifted the mandate we need to set the example and keep in mind that many of our families still have unvaccinated children at home or family members that may be immunocompromised.
- Any adult or youth becoming ill during the trip needs to be treated as a medical emergency.
- If you are unsure of any answer on the questionnaire please always err on the side of caution.
- Please use the health screening prior to departure. Units are required to use the pre-event screening check list provided by the National office
The Pack Leadership Committee will continue to monitor and adjust these plans based on the latest guidelines from Connecticut River Council, the Boy Scouts of America, the State of Connecticut, and the CDC
Pack 467’s Recovery Plan
We understand that our Scout and families are eager to get back to our normal meeting schedule. At this time we have to follow the State, BSA and CDC guidelines in order to provide scouts a safe learning environment.
Pack Meetings
- The Pack Committee has decided to have Pack meetings but mask must be worn at all times with the exception of eating/drinking.
- The September Pack Meeting will be held in person as long as we are not in the red zone for COVID.
Den Meetings
- For all Den meetings, face masks will be required when indoors and when Scouts, leaders and parents cannot be more than 6 feet.
- The Den/Pack Meeting Corona Pre-Screening Questionnaire located above needs to be handed in to den leaders for all scouts attending.
- Den Leaders must take attendance in Scoutbook (for tracking issues that may arise)
- Den Leaders or their designee will be responsible for ensuring that surfaces are wiped down before and after each den meeting.
- Any materials for crafts etc, should be handed out individually to Scouts.
- Outdoor meetings are encouraged where practical.
- A Virtual Option should be available to families. Ideally this would be a hybrid model where most of the Den meets in person and the meeting is available streamed via Zoom, Facebook or some other means for those unable to make it.
- Den leaders should limit games to avoid as much contact between Scouts as possible. There are several fun, classic Scout games that can be played and still allow for proper distancing.
AFTER THE MEETING:
- Contact the Cubmaster and your Den Leader IMMEDIATELY if any attendee tests positive for COVID-19
Pack Events
- The H20 Event will still be held in August, scouts please wear your bathing suits
- As with all other events, masks are required when proper distancing cannot be practically achieved.
- Frequently touched surfaces will be wiped down and disinfected.
- Events may be moved, rescheduled or changed based on practicality and safety.
- Set up will be similar to Pack meetings for any type of gathering such as flags, campfires, Scouts Own religious services, etc.
Council Events (including Summer Camps)
